PANASONIC LUMIX S5 IS NOW CAPABLE OF SHOOTING 5.9K PRORES RAW

Today, the companies have delivered on that promise, as the S5 supports full-frame 5.9K recording up to 30p, 4K at 60p, and 3.5K anamorphic at 50p when paired with the Ninja V recorder. Both ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ are supported.

This is great news for video shooters looking to take advantage of RAW workflows. With ProRes RAW being fully supported by Avid, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut, along with apps like ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, it’s becoming the go-to format for content creators who want to push the latitude of the camera’s sensor.

The LUMIX S5 joins 20+ cameras that are now supported by ProRes RAW via Atomos, and with a price-point under $2,000, it’s turning into one of our favorite under-the-radar cameras.

With the Ninja V, you can shoot 3.5K Super 35 anamorphic 4:3 RAW (3536 x 2656) without needing to worry about record time limitations. The only thing holding you back is storage size.

Fans of the G series cameras (GH4, GH5) will remember how awesome it was to shoot anamorphic on an MFT sensor. Now, you can take advantage of it on a full-frame sensor and shoot RAW.

The Ninja V offers a slew of handy options including a simple-to-use touchscreen, waveforms, 1-1 magnification, and focus peaking. Plus, you can view the RAW image in HDR either HLG or PQ (HDR10). Besides RAW, you can record to other flavors of ProRes including ProRES HQ or Avid DNx. Better yet, video is recorded to removable SSD drives for quick offload while on set.
